At the 2024 CES in Las Vegas on January 9, Honda is set to unveil an electric car concept that features a unique wedge-shaped body design.
Honda has provided a glimpse of a wedge-shaped concept to preview an upcoming series of electric vehicles from the brand. The debut of this new electric car concept is scheduled for the Consumer Electronics Show 2024 in Las Vegas. While specific details about the electric concept have yet to be revealed, a teaser image hints at an angular wedge-shaped body, continuing the design theme introduced by previous concepts like the 2021 E:N GT and E:N Coupe.
The teasers give a glimpse of the car's front end, showcasing a low-set nose and what appears to be an extended windscreen that stretches almost to the fascia. A second teaser clip, featured on Honda's dedicated Tokyo Auto Salon website, provides additional insight into the design, suggesting features such as a lightbar taillight unit, panoramic glass roof, individual rear seats, and almost slab-sided paneling.
Honda's strategic shift toward electric vehicles aligns with its goal of global sales of electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles by 2040, with a target of 2 million EVs sold by 2030. Upcoming electric cars could be based on Honda's E: architecture. The production model starts in 2026.
Traditionally recognized for its expertise in hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell technology, Honda has gradually entered the EV market. A collaboration with Sony for a new range of EVs under the Afeela brand is slated to begin production in 2026.
